I'm in my 3rd year in Occupational Therapy, and I have notice that not many people know what Occupational Therapy is.
I knew this career, because my mom work in a Medical Centre, where work a Occupational Therapist. Here go people who had an industrial accident, and the staff help them to reinstate at work.
I like this career very much, because here I work directly with different persons who need that someone help them to take part in society.
If you are an Occupational Therapist, you can work in a physical centre, like my mom, or in a phsychiatric. You can work with babys, kids, adults or old people, with only one person each time, or with groups of people. You can use traditional therapys, like excercise or social therapy, or use a different, like bach flower essences, reiki, or dance therapy.
You can do many different things, so get bored is impossible!
One of the most important thing in Occupational Therapy is that the therapy is always aim to one specific user, or group of users. If you don't know your patient, but you know what is his diagnostic you NEVER must say: "This patiente has schizophrenia, so I must do social therapy":
you must do you treatment plan After you know the user.
Las year I was in a group that worked in a phsychiatric hospital. We work with drug addicts and alcoholics, in a staff with a phsychiatrist, a phsicologist, a social worker and an occupational therapyst. Everybody decide what's the better way to treat the users, together: not only the doctor. Each profession contribute from his perspective to development a better treatment plan.
Occupational Therapy is based in Occupational Science, a new science who is development in Southern California University and Karolinska Institut. The University of Chile begann to make science since few years, but with good results.

Hello Camilanga!! How are you??
I enjoy very much the song you choose in the other post. But, now I must correct your english:
When you use a or an to indicate un/unos, you must look the word after and if it began whit vocal you must use an.
Also you put "If you are an Occupational Therapist, you can work in a physical centre, like my mom, or in a phsychiatric. You can work with babys, kids, adults or old people, with only one person each time, or with groups of people. " And I completely share your opinion about the versatility of our career, but I would write like this:
If you are an Occupational Therapist, you can work in a physical centre, like my mom, or in a phsychiatric. ALSO you can work with babys, kids, adults or old people AND AS IF THAT WEREN`T ENOUGH YOU CAN WORK with only one person each time, or with groups of people.
Another thing, you forgot a t is lasT no las (sha) jajaja
I think that`s all good friend!
Have a nice day
